ODM Leaders Launch “Linda Mwananchi Tour” Ahead of 2027 Elections

A faction of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders allied to Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has unveiled the “Linda Mwananchi Tour”, a grassroots political mobilisation drive set to begin in Busia County, signalling renewed activity and positioning within the opposition party.

The tour is scheduled to launch in Busia Town on Sunday, February 8, and will bring together several ODM lawmakers, party officials, and political commentators for public engagements and rallies.

Key participants include Senators Edwin Sifuna (Nairobi), Richard Onyonka (Kisii), Godfrey Osotsi (Vihiga), and Erick Okong’o Mogeni (Nyamira).

Members of the National Assembly expected to attend include Babu Owino, Caleb Amisi, Wanami Wamboka, Patrick Makau, Joshua Kimilu, and Majimbo Kalasinga, among others. Political analyst Brian Weke will also be part of the initiative.

The tour is largely being led by ODM members opposed to the emerging UDA-ODM coalition framework, highlighting ongoing divisions within the party.

Organisers say the “Linda Mwananchi” slogan represents a political narrative centred on economic hardship, governance reforms, and protection of civil rights, all key themes in recent opposition messaging.

While ODM has not issued an official party-wide statement on the tour, the initiative underscores growing internal rifts as different factions seek to consolidate influence ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Leaders aligned with figures such as Senator Oburu Oginga have publicly supported the merger with the ruling coalition, further highlighting the divisions.

The tour is expected to intensify political engagement at the grassroots level while signalling the strategies different ODM factions plan to employ as they position themselves for the next election cycle.
