Businessman Claims Ownership of Tuju’s KSh 450M Property, Says Purchase Was Legal

A fresh twist has emerged in the ongoing dispute over a high-value property linked to former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju, after a city businessman stepped forward claiming lawful ownership.

Jackson Kiplimo Chebet has stated that he legally acquired the Dari Business Park property along Ngong Road through a public auction held in October 2024.

In a sworn affidavit, Chebet explained that his company, Ultra Eureka Limited, emerged as the highest bidder, purchasing the property for KSh 450 million.

He maintains that the entire process followed due legal procedures, adding that ownership was officially transferred and the property subsequently charged to a local bank, reinforcing his company’s control over it.

Chebet has dismissed claims by Tuju challenging the sale, arguing that once the transfer was completed, any prior ownership rights ceased to apply. He described the former CS’s claims as misleading and lacking legal basis.

The businessman is now urging the court to uphold the transaction, warning that overturning the sale could undermine confidence in public auctions and create uncertainty within the real estate sector.

The dispute has also sparked tension on the ground. Chebet alleges that when he attempted to take possession of the property with the help of private security, a group of armed individuals allegedly linked to Tuju disrupted the process.

Several security officers were reportedly injured before police intervened to restore order.
Authorities have since directed both parties to present documentation supporting their claims as the case proceeds.

Chebet continues to insist that the purchase was clean and transparent, with the final determination now resting in the hands of the court.
