Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expanded his Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) outside Kenya after launching a new chapter in Oregon, United States.
Gachagua officially opened the DCP Oregon Chapter in Portland on Saturday, September 12, 2026, describing the move as a sign that the party is gaining support beyond Kenya.
He said DCP was growing rapidly and reaching Kenyans living in different parts of the world.
The former deputy president described DCP as a party focused on ordinary citizens and said its growing international presence showed the increasing interest of Kenyans abroad in the country's political affairs.
The launch came during Gachagua's ongoing engagement with Kenyans living in the United States as he builds support ahead of the 2027 General Election.
During his visit to Portland, Gachagua also addressed concerns raised by Kenyans living abroad, including taxation and the role of the diaspora in Kenya's development.
He pledged that a government led by his political camp would work to address the issue of double taxation affecting Kenyans living in foreign countries.
Gachagua also said Kenya would need to attract skilled professionals living abroad, particularly experts in health and economic recovery, to return home and contribute their knowledge.
He said Kenyans in the diaspora have an important role to play in the country's economic growth and should be involved in discussions about Kenya's future.
The launch of the Oregon chapter marks another step in DCP's efforts to build a wider political network as the 2027 elections approach.
Gachagua's continued meetings with Kenyans abroad are also expected to strengthen his party's engagement with the diaspora and increase its political presence outside the country.
The DCP leader ended his message by reaffirming the party's slogan, "Green is Wealth!"
