Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs has called on citizens to provide information about Kenyans who may be at risk following deadly protests in Tanzania.

The ministry said it is concerned that some nationals could have been injured, arrested, or killed amid the unrest.

In a public notice posted on X, the ministry urged Kenyans to share the names and addresses of any citizens potentially exposed to danger.

It also requested contact details of relatives to enable embassy staff to communicate quickly and provide assistance.

“The Ministry has heard your concerns and requests that you share through our inbox the names and addresses of all Kenyans who may be exposed to any sort of danger in our neighbouring countries, and far away countries,” the statement read.

Officials reminded Kenyans living abroad of the importance of registering themselves and their addresses with the nearest Kenyan mission, a process outlined in the Kenyan passport.

Registration allows authorities to locate and support citizens efficiently in emergencies.

The ministry assured the public that all submitted information will be shared promptly with Kenya Missions abroad and feedback will be provided to those who submit details.

“Let us all work together to secure the best interests of our brothers and sisters wherever they may be,” the notice added.

The alert comes amid reports of violent protests in Tanzania, which have left several people dead and others arrested.

Although exact numbers remain unclear, Kenyan authorities are acting swiftly to ensure that nationals abroad remain safe.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that its X account remains open for citizens seeking to report their situation or get guidance.
