Former Machakos First Lady Lillian Ng’ang’a has revealed that she is officially seeking new job opportunities — preferably remote or hybrid roles — as her son Utheri prepares to begin school next year.

In a candid series of Instagram Stories shared on November 22, 2025, Lillian, 39, explained that she has spent the past few years devoted to motherhood. With her son, whom she shares with rapper Juliani, set to join school in 2026, she now feels ready to return to structured work.

“I’ve been hesitant to say this out loud,” she confessed, admitting she struggled with whether or not to make her job search public. She noted that her previous high-profile position often shapes public perception.

According to her, some people might unfairly assume her announcement is linked to financial issues or her past life in the limelight.

“Some will immediately associate it with my former life as First Lady or conclude that I’m broke,” she said, anticipating sensational headlines such as ‘From First Lady to Struggling’ or ‘Lillian Ng’ang’a Begging for Jobs’.

Lillian clarified that the decision is simply practical — with her child now more independent, she has time to re-enter the workforce fully.

Mixed Reactions from the Public

Her openness drew a variety of responses from Kenyans online, many commenting on the pressures that come with public scrutiny:

Maitha Charo: “Being a celebrity is welcoming stress into your life.”

Clement Mwakio Mkongo: “Being a celeb is a headache — you can’t do normal things like board a matatu in peace.”

Magowi Herbert: “What a way to solicit for a job.”

Atsiaya K. Fernandes: “Once you become a celeb, accept everything that comes with it.”

Her Career, Businesses, and Investments

Despite the public assumptions, Lillian has maintained an active professional life beyond her days as county First Lady.

She has ventured into several businesses, including two beauty parlours, short-term modelling work, and a tour and travel company aligned with her project management background.

She also owns a 45% stake in the high-end A&L Hotel in Machakos, where she serves as operations manager, and is the founder of the Lillian Ng’ang’a Foundation, established in 2017.

As she steps back into the job market, Lillian says she is focused on growth, flexibility, and creating a stable future for her son — not responding to public pressure or speculation.
