Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has addressed speculation surrounding Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s recent visit to Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga’s home, describing the meeting as a move to foster national unity and reconciliation.
Speaking in an interview on Thursday morning, Kalonzo emphasized that the visit should not be interpreted as political maneuvering ahead of the 2027 elections, but rather as a demonstration of democratic maturity.
According to Kalonzo, Raila and Gachagua engaged in substantive discussions on national peace, development, and the welfare of Kenyans, agreeing that the country’s interests must take precedence over partisan politics.
“We may differ in ideology, but when the nation needs healing, we must come together as brothers,” he remarked.
He dismissed claims that the meeting signaled a secret political alliance, stressing that Raila remains committed to national cohesion and the strengthening of democratic processes.
“This country needs dialogue, not division. Raila has always championed unity, and Gachagua’s visit reflects the willingness of leaders to rise above politics,” Kalonzo added.
Kalonzo also urged Kenyans to support leaders who prioritize peace and progress, commending Raila for welcoming Gachagua warmly and calling the gesture a mark of true statesmanship.
The visit has sparked discussions nationwide, with some speculating about potential political realignments.
However, Kalonzo maintained that its primary goal was to promote dialogue and cooperation among leaders for the benefit of all Kenyans.
