Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has issued a detailed condolence message honouring former MP Joseph K. Munyao, describing him as a disciplined and dependable figure in Kenya’s political landscape.

The message, shared on his official X account, highlighted the late legislator’s quiet leadership style and long-standing commitment to national service.

In his tribute, Kalonzo noted that Munyao’s political career stood out for its emphasis on humility and service to citizens.

According to the Wiper leader, the late lawmaker embodied values that have become increasingly rare in contemporary politics, where competition, party realignments, and shifting alliances often dominate the national conversation.

Kenyan political history has seen Munyao play a notable role, especially during periods when Parliament and the Cabinet were central to shaping policy on agriculture and rural development.

As a former minister and legislator, Munyao worked closely with successive administrations on programmes that affected smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and rural economies. Kalonzo referenced this legacy in his message, describing Munyao as “a quiet yet powerful presence” who consistently prioritised public interest.

The Wiper leader also cited a passage from the Book of Matthew to underscore the faith-driven principles that guided Munyao’s leadership.

He said the verse resonated with the late politician’s record of diligence, stating that it offered reassurance to the grieving family. Kalonzo added that Munyao’s discipline, calm temperament, and humour left a lasting impression on colleagues across the political divide.

Regional party officials within Wiper have also acknowledged Munyao’s influence, noting that his leadership style aligned with long-standing traditions of community-oriented service in Eastern Kenya.

While Munyao did not maintain a prominent public role in recent years, his contributions during earlier decades remain part of Kenya’s political memory, especially among leaders who served during the shift from single-party to multiparty politics.

Kalonzo assured the Munyao family of his support, saying he stood with them during the period of mourning.

His statement emphasised comfort and unity, noting that Munyao’s legacy would continue to be felt by those who interacted with him in public life.

The family is expected to release further details on burial arrangements in the coming days as condolences continue to flow from across the country.
