Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has stepped into a growing online dispute involving Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai and EALA MP Winnie Odinga, defending the latter against what she described as unwarranted attacks.

Odhiambo’s intervention, shared via her Facebook handle on Friday, comes amid heightened debates on gender, political influence, and leadership within ODM.

Alai had previously criticized Winnie Odinga following her remarks at the ODM 20th anniversary youth convention in Mombasa, questioning her political experience and condemning her use of bedroom metaphors directed at fellow female leaders.

He argued that her authority in party affairs stemmed from her family legacy rather than any official position or political achievements.

Responding online, Odhiambo condemned Alai’s actions and defended Winnie Odinga’s conduct.

“Robert Alai, you are used to attacking women and getting away with it. Winnie Odinga did not attack Governor Gladys Wanga, so quit trying to pit one against the other. You are in fact the one implicitly attacking Wanga,” Odhiambo wrote.

She further highlighted the personal context, noting that it has been only a month since Winnie Odinga lost her father, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

“It is uncouth and uncultured to attack her, but then again, why would I expect you to understand? Bring it on. I am waiting,” she added.

The exchange reflects ongoing tensions in Kenyan politics, particularly the challenges female leaders face when navigating public scrutiny and internal party debates.

Within ODM, family influence, youth activism, and leadership succession have frequently intersected, with prominent members and emerging voices often engaging in high-profile disputes.
