The statement, which used the name and branding of the Office of the Fourth President, claimed that Gachagua had sought a meeting with Uhuru through different intermediaries but that the former president declined the requests.
However, Kanze Dena, the spokesperson for Uhuru Kenyatta, dismissed the document as fake.
The disputed statement, obtained on Wednesday, August 12, claimed that Uhuru had carefully considered the requests but decided not to meet Gachagua. It further alleged that no meeting between the two politicians had taken place or been planned.
"It is confirmed that such requests have been received, on more than one occasion, through various intermediaries," the statement claimed before alleging that Uhuru had rejected them.
The fake document also attributed strong criticism of Gachagua to the retired president. It accused the former deputy president of having difficulties maintaining political relationships with his allies.
According to the statement, Gachagua's style of handling political partnerships was allegedly unsuitable for collaborative national leadership and would make a meeting between the two unproductive.
It further accused him of repeatedly clashing with political partners, publicly embarrassing allies and turning disagreements into political battles.
The document also claimed that Gachagua had struggled to maintain working relationships without allowing political differences to escalate into conflicts.
Meanwhile, Gachagua has continued pushing for unity among leaders and voters from the Mt. Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader recently described a proposed political alliance as the "Hyena Coalition" and called on opposition leaders from the region to unite and consolidate their votes.
Gachagua has also continued to view Uhuru Kenyatta as an important figure in efforts to unite the vote-rich Mt. Kenya region, despite the political differences that emerged during and after the Kenya Kwanza administration.
