Media personality Oga Obinna has alleged that President William Ruto personally intervened to stop a planned move against him shortly after his high-profile interview with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on May 16.

Speaking on his YouTube show on Monday, Obinna stated that he received credible warnings from multiple trusted sources indicating that a rogue unit was plotting to target him. According to him, the President issued a firm directive halting the alleged plan.

“The President Said, ‘Leave the Young Man Alone’”

Obinna recounted being informed by an individual who claimed to be in the same room with the people involved. The source reportedly relayed the President’s exact words:

“Leave the young man alone. If we start beating young men, what exactly are we doing? Leave him alone; he has done nothing wrong. Let him do his thing. Nobody should touch him.”

He added that two other individuals — a well-known media figure and a person he described as having “deep state connections” — warned him of the same threat, convincing him that the danger was real.

Warnings Before the President’s Alleged Intervention

Obinna revealed that even before receiving information about the President’s directive, a popular journalist had cautioned him to be extra vigilant, claiming a rogue unit was tracking his movements and aware of his routines.

Tension After the Gachagua Interview

In the highly watched three-hour interview, Gachagua spoke extensively about his fallout with Ruto, events leading up to the 2022 polls, his impeachment, and the chaos surrounding the launch of his Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).

Obinna admitted that he and his crew were uneasy immediately after filming.

“Every time I saw a police roadblock, I froze,” he recalled. “There were so many that I didn’t even want to drive home. Pray for me — I’ve brought this on myself,” he said, half-jokingly.
