Seth Panyako has emerged as the front-runner in the Malava Constituency by-election, according to the latest Mizani Africa survey, which places him at 47.2% support among likely voters.
His closest rival, David Ndakwa, trails at 40.3%, leaving the race tightly contested as Election Day approaches.
The survey also highlights that 9.4% of voters remain undecided, representing a pivotal segment that could influence the final outcome.
The data, released by Mizani Africa, compares trends from an earlier survey conducted on November 7, showing incremental gains for both leading candidates.
Panyako’s support rose from 44.7% to 47.2%, suggesting consolidation of his base, while Ndakwa increased from 37.9% to 40.3%, reflecting growing engagement among his supporters.
The movement underscores the competitive nature of the contest in a constituency historically known for closely fought elections.
Other candidates collectively hold 3.1% of the projected vote. Notably, Wilberforce Tuvei, who previously registered 3.9% support, did not feature significantly in the most recent survey, indicating a shift of voter attention toward the two main contenders.
The reduction in undecided voters from 12.5% to 9.4% signals that the electorate is gradually making firmer choices.
Malava’s by-election has drawn attention due to its role in shaping political alignments in Kakamega County, a region where party loyalty and clan affiliations often influence voting patterns.
Mizani Africa’s findings provide an early snapshot of voter sentiment but caution that the outcome remains fluid.
With a narrow margin separating Panyako and Ndakwa, the undecided electorate could be decisive, making the remaining days of campaigning critical for both camps.
