Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has announced the death of his uncle, Roy Bulinya Sifuna, describing the loss as another difficult moment for the family.

The senator said the family gathered at St. Francis Catholic Church in Kasarani on Thursday for a memorial mass in his honour. The burial is scheduled for Saturday in Siaka village, Kanduyi, Bungoma County.

In his statement shared on X, Sifuna said the late Bulinya was remembered as a brilliant engineer who carried himself with humility and kindness. He noted that such traits were rare in the family, reflecting on the character of the man they were preparing to lay to rest.

The senator expressed gratitude to those who stood with the family during the period of mourning.

According to Sifuna, the memorial mass brought relatives together to celebrate Bulinya’s life and contributions to both family and community.

Relatives and friends highlighted his patience, professionalism, and calm demeanour, qualities they said defined his long career in engineering.

The service also offered an opportunity for the family to reflect on their recent losses, with the senator noting that they had been in mourning “yet again.”

The late Bulinya’s burial in Kanduyi is expected to draw extended family members travelling from Nairobi and Bungoma, as well as neighbours from Siaka village.

Local leaders from the region are also expected to attend the send-off, though no official programme had been released by Thursday evening. Preparations for the interment were underway as the family finalised funeral arrangements.

Sifuna ended his message with a brief prayer for his uncle’s soul, thanking the public for their support. Further updates on the burial programme are expected from the family ahead of Saturday’s ceremony.
