The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has called on Kenyans to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise as the country gears up for the 2027 general elections.

The electoral body emphasized early registration to prevent congestion and delays often seen in the final days of the process.

In a statement posted on X, IEBC reminded citizens that only those with valid identification documents will be eligible to register.

Applicants must present either a national identity card or a valid Kenyan passport, be at least 18 years old, and physically visit any IEBC Constituency office to complete registration.

During the process, applicants are required to fill Form A, the official voter registration form.

The commission also collects biometric and biographic data to verify the identity of each registrant.

Offices are open from Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and remain closed on weekends and public holidays.

The electoral commission’s push for early registration comes amid a nationwide drive aimed at increasing voter turnout.

In the 2022 general elections, IEBC reported that over 22 million Kenyans were registered voters, representing about 73% of the eligible population, according to official statistics.

Kenyans can find the nearest IEBC constituency office through the commission’s official website link provided in the statement.

As political parties begin mobilizing supporters, the commission’s message is seen as part of early preparations to ensure an inclusive and transparent electoral process ahead of 2027.
