Musician Kevin Bahati has found himself at the center of yet another family controversy after an elderly man publicly claimed to be his biological father—pleading for forgiveness and expressing a strong desire to finally meet him.
In a video that quickly went viral, the man said he was the one who took Bahati to a children’s home years ago, explaining that financial struggles forced him to make the difficult decision.
He insisted it was done out of love, believing that Bahati would have a better chance at life in institutional care.
“Bahati, please forgive me,” the man said emotionally. “I am your father. I took you to a children’s home because I could not provide for you. I only wanted to give you a chance to survive.”
Now 69 and living in Western Kenya, he admitted that seeing Bahati on TV brings him deep anguish. He also mentioned Judith Makokha—the woman who recently claimed to be Bahati’s mother—believing that she is still searching for him. He revealed that he has even approached a pastor to help locate the singer.
Willing to Take a DNA Test
Determined to prove his claim, the man said he is ready for any test, including a DNA analysis, just to confirm his identity.
“Even if it requires a DNA test, I am willing,” he insisted. “All I want is forgiveness.”
Bahati Reacts With Humor and Frustration
Bahati later shared the clip on social media, responding with a mix of irritation and sarcasm. “Enough with the jokes, let my parents rest in peace 😂😂😂,” he wrote.
His reaction sparked intense online debate among Kenyans:
Tonnie Ogana: “There’s a strong resemblance. Waende DNA.”
Elvine R Kemunto: “Bahati, you’re the king of clout — another song loading.”
Dafa Mafelina: “Just call them and go do a DNA.”
Elya-c Eliano: “I am your grandfather, but younger than you.”
Another Claim: A Woman Steps Forward
This drama follows a similar claim from a woman who tearfully identified herself as Bahati’s biological mother, saying poverty forced her to give him up and that she has been searching for him ever since.
Bahati appeared deeply unsettled, pointing out the confusion:
“But my mum died over 25 years ago. I attended her burial and saw the grave 💔💔💔. This woman has confused me even more. So what should I do???”
What Lies Ahead
With two separate claims now emerging, both individuals willing to undergo DNA testing, the situation has sparked a nationwide discussion on identity, loss, and the fine line between genuine appeals and potential publicity stunts.
For now, Bahati and his fans are left waiting to see if science will finally clarify the mystery surrounding his parentage.
