Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa expressed deep sorrow over the passing of nominated Member of Parliament Denar Joseph Hamisi, emphasizing his lasting contribution to the Coast region and the nation.
“I am profoundly saddened by the sudden passing of Hon. Denar Joseph Hamisi, MP. His dedicated service and immense contribution to the Coast region and our nation will never be forgotten. On behalf of the people of Kimilili Constituency and myself, I extend heartfelt condolences to his family, the people of Kinango, the Coast region, and all Kenyans. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Barasa said.
Hamisi, 56, died at around 7:00 a.m., Speaker Moses Wetang’ula confirmed.
He had been representing the Coast region after his nomination under the Amani National Congress (ANC) in the 2022 general election.
Born in 1969 in Kinango, Coast region, Denar Joseph Hamisi held several public service roles, including Director at the Coast Development Authority, Commissioner at the Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK), and Director at the Kenya Airports Authority.
In Parliament, he served on the Departmental Committee on Sports and Culture and the Select Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunities.
Speaker Wetang’ula confirmed Hamisi passed away early Saturday.
