Kenyans can enjoy free entry to national parks, sanctuaries, and marine parks this festive season as the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) rolls out special holiday offers.
In a notice issued on Friday, December 26, KWS announced that the week-long promotion will run until Wednesday, December 31, under its Boxing Day group campaign. The offer is exclusively for Kenyan citizens, with specific terms and conditions.
Under the promotion:
Families of five visiting sanctuaries or marine parks will get free entry for one child aged 6 to 17 years.
Groups of five in a five-seater vehicle will receive free entry for one child.
Fully occupied 25-seater buses will get free entry for two adults, while seven-seater vans and eight-seater Land Cruisers will have free entry for one adult.
Visitors staying in park accommodations for three nights will get the fourth night free.
"As we unwrap the season’s wildest gift, gather your family and friends and enjoy special group offers across Kenya’s parks, sanctuaries, and marine parks," KWS said.
The announcement comes a week after KWS introduced festive shuttle services at Nairobi, Aberdare, and Lake Nakuru National Parks.
Operating mainly on weekends and public holidays, the shuttles allow tourists to enjoy game drives without needing their own vehicles.
“Starting this weekend, December 20, we’re bringing back the bus shuttle service through the festive season as part of the Jiachilie in Kenya Parks holiday campaign,” KWS added.
The festive packages are part of a broader effort to boost tourism. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki recently revealed that KWS plans to expand park facilities, increasing bed capacities from 1,800 to 4,000.
This expansion aims to accommodate more visitors while creating jobs and empowering local communities around the parks.
