President William Ruto has re-appointed Faith Boinett as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) board of directors for a three-year term, effective December 23, 2025.

The renewal comes under section 6 (1)(a) of the State Corporations Act, ensuring Boinett continues to oversee the state corporation responsible for transporting and storing petroleum products across the country.

In a separate leadership move, Education CS Julius Migos Ogamba appointed Professor Clara Samiji Momanyi as the new Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenyatta University Council, effective December 19, 2025. Her appointment, which runs for three years under section 36(1) of the Universities Act, also revoked the tenure of Dr Ben Chumo, though the ministry has not provided a reason for the revocation.

The government has also extended the declaration of parts of Marsabit County as security-disturbed areas. Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen issued the extension under section 106(6) of the National Police Service Act, in consultation with the National Security Council.

The directive, effective December 23, 2025, for 30 days, covers areas including Hillo Gorgora, Hillo Orofa, Hillo Walkite, Hillo Tanzania, Hillo Irress Abamartille, Hillo Gootu, Hillo Tessum Qalicha, Hillo Karray, Hillo Hudda, Hillo Qoranjido, Hillo Irress Shindia, Hillo Rabaalee, and Hillo Godde Haroressa.

Security operations remain in force due to recurrent banditry and inter-community conflict.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Lands has launched a fresh initiative to secure Nairobi’s rivers.

Lands CS Alice Wahome said a multi-agency team, including the Survey of Kenya, Nairobi City County Government, and the Water Resources Authority, will demarcate riparian reserves, wetlands, and springs, remove illegal structures, relocate residents in flood-prone areas, and prohibit incompatible land use along river corridors. The exercise begins December 22, 2025, with public participation emphasized.
