Murang’a Woman Representative Betty Maina has strongly condemned the disruption of public meetings across Kenya, warning that such actions should not be tolerated.
Through her Facebook page, Maina directly linked the recent chaos in Othaya to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. She accused the organizers of using the event to stage a “scripted” display for public sympathy.
“These are Gachagua's goons and well known. They should be arrested with immediate effect. No more script writing to gain public sympathy,” she said. “Anywhere you see Malala, know there will be a sympathy script. Shame on you for planning a dangerous script.”
Maina called on the police, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and other security agencies to take immediate action and arrest those responsible for orchestrating the motorcade disruptions.
She emphasized that as Kenya approaches the 2027 general elections, such politically motivated disruptions should be curtailed to protect public safety and uphold democratic norms.
It remains to be seen how security agencies will respond to prevent further interruptions of political gatherings in the lead-up to the polls.
