Things appear to be brewing behind the scenes for Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), a political group. Members of its parliament drawn from key regions are now considering whose platform to join.
According to sources, it is emerging that an MP from Murang’a County, a well-known close ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, might also be planning to leave the party. Evidently, the MP is not comfortable with the way the party is being run and the direction it is taking.
Another possible departure is said to involve a West Kenya MP who plays a crucial role within DCP.
Reports indicate that he has been holding consultations with friends and supporters over concerns about the party’s leadership style and its capacity to gain wider national appeal. His exit would be significant due to his strong influence at the grassroots level in the region.
In Mount Kenya East, yet another MP is reportedly re-evaluating their position within the party. The lawmaker is said to be under pressure from local supporters who feel DCP has failed to outline a clear strategy that addresses regional interests. Mount Kenya remains a highly competitive political battleground.
Although none of the legislators has publicly declared an intention to defect, the reports have sparked debate within political circles.
DCP loyalists have dismissed the claims as exaggerated rumours spread by rivals, while critics warn that unresolved internal disagreements could weaken the party further.
Attention will now turn to how DCP leadership responds to the shifting political dynamics as it seeks to retain key members and prevent potential defections ahead of future realignments.
