Only 27% of Students Qualify for Direct University Entry in 2025 KCSE – President Ruto

President William Ruto has shared early insights into the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, revealing that only 27% of candidates achieved the minimum grade required for direct university entry.

Out of 993,000 students who sat the examinations last year, only 270,000 scored a C+ and above, the benchmark for admission to Kenyan universities.

While the results appear challenging, they are similar to the 2024 KCSE outcomes, where 246,391 students out of 962,512 attained the minimum university entry grade.

President Ruto noted that students who did not meet the university entry threshold still have opportunities to pursue technical courses and other programs in higher learning institutions.

Parents and guardians are urged to guide their children through the next stages of their academic journey, helping them make informed choices regarding career paths and alternative education options.
