Robert Alai Calls on Nyanza Leaders Opposed to Ruto to Boycott President’s Events

Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has challenged a section of Nyanza leaders, whom he believes oppose President William Ruto, to drop the pretense and entirely boycott the president’s events in the region.

In a statement on his X page on Friday, January 9, 2025, Alai said it was inconceivable for such politicians to bask in Ruto’s presence while secretly opposing him.

He singled out leaders including Siaya Governor James Orengo and ODM Vice Chairperson and Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo.

Also mentioned were Seme MP James Nyikal and Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang, whom Alai recently criticized over alleged attempts to make “boardroom deals” to control the ODM party.

“There is no reason why they keep pretending to appear at events of the president in the region when they hate the president. They must stay away and be handled as enemies of progress and development of our people,” Alai stated.

He also launched a scathing attack on the delegation led by ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, which recently met with senior party members in Nairobi.

Alai described the group as “inconsequential and selfish,” claiming their opposition to the president is motivated by personal political interests.

“You see why they are blackmailing the President? They want to be Raila one day. They don’t know that Raila sacrificed to achieve the stature he left when he died. This group is so useless; I don’t think anyone should be scared of their exit from the ODM,” he said.

Alai concluded by urging President Ruto to focus on reliable allies rather than “selfish brokers who blow hot and cold.”
