Tanzanian gospel singer Rose Muhando has publicly refuted claims that she is married to Kenyan preacher Robert Lumbasi, stirring widespread discussion on social media.
The controversy began after Lumbasi announced that he had married Muhando and paid her dowry in Tanzania in 2023.
Speaking during a church service, he introduced her as "the mother of my children" and "the anointed one," prompting applause from the congregation, while Muhando appeared visibly moved.
However, Muhando quickly clarified her position. In an interview on January 15, she stated firmly, “Hapana, hapana, there is no such thing.” She emphasized that she is a “child of God and a minister of God” and pledged to always speak the truth openly.
Muhando also shared that she is raising three children on her own, guiding them through university without a father figure.
She expressed hope of finding a partner who can provide both genuine love and financial stability, jokingly adding that she dreams of marrying a wealthy foreign man, or “Mzungu.”
Fans reacted with mixed emotions, ranging from surprise to humorous support for her search for love.
Lumbasi’s personal life has long attracted public attention. In 2013, he revealed he was married to a lecturer, Leticia Lunami, with whom he has three children.
He currently serves as a senior police officer and preacher in Nairobi and is active with the Christian Police Association of Kenya.
As the online debate continues, Muhando’s denial has left many questioning the nature of her relationship with Lumbasi, sparking curiosity and speculation among fans across East Africa.
