Linda Mwananchi Embraces ‘Niko Kadi’ Movement, Pushes Mass Voter Registration Ahead of 2027 Polls

The Linda Mwananchi faction of the Orange Democratic Movement has urged Kenyans to register as voters ahead of the 2027 General Election, aligning itself with the trending “Niko Kadi” movement.

The leaders said increased voter registration is the only way to ensure better leadership and influence change in the country’s political direction.

Speaking during a rally at Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa County on March 29, 2026, the leaders, led by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, encouraged young people to register in large numbers, saying the current administration should be voted out in 2027.

“We must register as voters so that change can come to this country. I am ‘Niko Kadi.’ Your vote will bring better services, not empty promises,” Babu said.

He also described voter registration as a key tool for political change, insisting that citizens must take active responsibility in shaping future leadership.

Siaya Governor James Orengo also addressed supporters at the event, urging them to prepare early for the elections and ensure they are registered voters.

He said the 2027 election would be a defining moment for the country and warned against complacency.

“Winning in 2027 starts now. Be ready and make sure you are registered,” Orengo said.

He further stated that the movement would mobilize supporters across the country, including major cities and rural areas, to ensure electoral participation is maximized.

Meanwhile, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna said the future direction of the movement would depend on the number of people who register under what he referred to as the “Sisi ndio Sifuna” initiative.

He also introduced a digital registration drive aimed at tracking supporters and building a structured political base ahead of future engagements.

“We want people to register online so we know our numbers and plan our next steps,” Sifuna said.

The rally highlighted growing political mobilization within the Linda Mwananchi faction as leaders intensify grassroots engagement and voter registration drives ahead of the 2027 elections.
