An outspoken Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporter has sparked political debate after issuing a stern warning to party leaders ahead of anticipated engagements with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
The supporter declared that discussions with UDA should not proceed unless the persistent power outages affecting many Kenyans are addressed.
Addressing ODM leaders Junet Mohamed and Gladys Wanga, the supporter emphasized that ordinary citizens are growing frustrated with the ongoing electricity challenges.
The phrase “Kama hakuna stima, hakuna mazungumzo na UDA,” loosely translated as “If there is no electricity, there will be no talks with UDA,” has since ignited conversations among political supporters online.
The remarks come amid growing public concern over frequent power interruptions that have affected businesses, households, and essential services across the country.
Many Kenyans have taken to social media demanding accountability from leaders, arguing that basic services such as electricity should be prioritized before political negotiations.
The supporter further urged ODM representatives to present a clear 10-point agenda addressing issues that directly impact citizens, including reliable electricity supply, the rising cost of living, and improved service delivery.
Both Junet Mohamed and Gladys Wanga, senior figures within ODM, have previously been involved in high-level political discussions representing the party’s interests.
However, grassroots supporters now appear to be pushing for stronger demands to be placed on the table during any political dialogue.
The comments highlight growing pressure from ordinary citizens who want political leaders to focus more on tangible solutions to everyday challenges rather than purely political arrangements.
