Speaker Wetang’ula Dismisses Disputed Letter on Azimio Parliamentary Leadership Changes

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has dismissed a letter allegedly from the office of former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, which claimed to introduce changes in the leadership of the Azimio la Umoja Coalition within Parliament.

The letter, which surfaced earlier this week, had reportedly named Suba South MP Caroli Omondi as the new leader of Azimio parliamentary members.

However, Speaker Wetang’ula raised concerns over its authenticity and validity.
Addressing Parliament, the Speaker pointed out inconsistencies in the document, particularly the signature used.

“It is signed by one ‘Kalonzo Kalonzo Musyoka,’ a name that does not exist in Kenya. Everyone knows the former Vice President as Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka,” Wetang’ula said.

He noted that such errors cast serious doubt on the legitimacy of the letter, making it unsuitable for any official parliamentary use or consideration.

The Speaker further reminded Members of Parliament that all official communications must follow strict parliamentary protocols, including proper identification, correct signatures, and verified letterheads.

He warned MPs against acting on or circulating documents whose origin and authenticity have not been confirmed.

The incident has sparked discussion among political observers, who say it reflects ongoing internal tensions within the Azimio coalition regarding leadership and parliamentary coordination.

While the coalition has not issued an official statement on the matter, the controversy continues to generate debate on social media, with some suggesting it may have been an attempt to create confusion within parliamentary ranks.

MP Caroli Omondi has not publicly responded to the claims regarding the alleged appointment.
For now, the National Assembly is expected to continue operating under its current leadership structure while verification of the disputed communication is carried out.
