KOKO Networks Sets April 8 Deadline for Kenyans to File Claims Ahead of Creditors’ Meeting

Multinational bioethanol company KOKO Networks has directed Kenyans and other creditors to submit any outstanding claims by Wednesday, April 8, 2026, ahead of a scheduled creditors’ meeting.

The notice, filed at the High Court, confirms that the company has officially entered administration and will hold a virtual creditors’ meeting on April 10, 2026, where affected parties will discuss the future of the business and possible recovery options.

According to the administrators, creditors must submit valid claims alongside supporting documents before the deadline in order to qualify for participation and voting rights during the meeting.

The meeting will be conducted online, with registered creditors receiving login details upon confirmation of their claims.

KOKO Networks had built its business model around supplying bioethanol fuel and smart cookstoves aimed at reducing reliance on charcoal and kerosene in households across Kenya and other markets.

The company generated revenue through carbon credits linked to reduced emissions, which were expected to be sold in international markets to sustain its operations and subsidize clean cooking products.

However, its operations were significantly affected after it reportedly failed to secure required government approval for the international sale of carbon credits, disrupting a key income stream.

As a result, the firm—valued at approximately Ksh22 billion—was forced to halt operations and lay off staff as it moved into insolvency proceedings.

Administrators from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) are now overseeing the process, during which creditors will review proposals and vote on possible restructuring or recovery plans.

Creditors who cannot attend the virtual meeting have been advised to submit their decisions in writing via email to the appointed administrators.
