Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has alleged that Siaya Governor James Orengo, a key figure in the Linda Mwananchi faction, has been secretly engaging with President William Ruto despite his public opposition stance.
Speaking during a meeting in Kitale, Murkomen claimed that Orengo has been making discreet visits to State House to discuss development matters affecting Siaya County.
Murkomen noted that some counties are progressing faster due to close cooperation with the national government, citing Siaya as an example.
He revealed that during his tenure as Transport CS, Orengo frequently held meetings with him to lobby for road development projects.
Murkomen further claimed that Orengo could make a last-minute political shift and join the government ahead of the next general election.
He used the remarks to criticize Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, accusing him of sidelining development opportunities by failing to work closely with the national government.
During President Ruto’s recent visit to Siaya, Orengo attended the rally and was seen warmly receiving the Head of State.
