Police Intensify Security and Traffic Enforcement Ahead of Easter Holiday

The National Police Service (National Police Service) has announced increased security operations and stricter traffic enforcement measures across the country ahead of the Easter holiday period.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the police said they are working jointly with other government agencies to enhance security for both residents and visitors during the holiday season, which coincides with the rainy season and school closures.

Authorities noted that the expected surge in travel, public gatherings, and tourism necessitates heightened vigilance in key areas, including shopping centres, places of worship, markets, transport hubs, and critical infrastructure.

The police service confirmed that additional officers have been deployed nationwide to boost patrols, increase visibility, and strengthen surveillance in high-traffic and high-risk areas.

Motorists, boda boda operators, and public service vehicle drivers have been urged to strictly observe traffic regulations, with authorities warning against speeding, drunk driving, distracted driving, and overloading.

The police further emphasized that road safety remains a shared responsibility, calling on all road users to exercise caution and discipline during the festive period.

Pedestrians were also advised to use designated crossing points and remain alert, especially in busy urban areas.

The National Police Service reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while ensuring a safe and secure Easter holiday for all Kenyans.
