Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Mabona has welcomed candidates from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in her constituency ahead of the upcoming General Election.
The MP was reacting after UDA fielded two candidates in Suba North, saying they are welcome to compete fairly.
“I noticed there is mention of two UDA candidates in Suba North; I welcome the competition in Jesus' name. The antelope does not belong to anyone. To our people, let us meet on the ground,” Mabona said.
At the same time, Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma cautioned UDA against fielding candidates in areas considered strongholds of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Speaking on the current political landscape, Kaluma warned that such a move could negatively impact President William Ruto’s support in the region.
“Homa Bay is an ODM zone. Members of UDA in Homa Bay are rejects. I would like to caution UDA against fielding candidates here. If they do so, it is going to affect President Ruto’s votes,” Kaluma said.
His remarks sparked reactions among Kenyans, with some calling for open and fair political competition across all regions.
