NTSA Announces 10-Day Nationwide Training Ahead of New Digital Logbook Rollout

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced a 10-day virtual sensitisation programme ahead of the official rollout of the new electronic motor vehicle logbook system.

According to NTSA, the new eLogbook system will officially replace the current paper-based vehicle logbooks starting June 10, 2026, marking a major shift toward fully digital vehicle registration services in Kenya.

To prepare Kenyans for the transition, NTSA has organised online training sessions targeting vehicle dealers, financial institutions, transport operators, insurance companies, lawyers, county governments, investigative agencies, and the general public.

The sensitisation programme is scheduled to begin on May 25, 2026, with different stakeholder groups assigned specific training dates. Members of the public will attend virtual sessions between June 2 and June 4, with daily forums planned for 9am and 11am.

NTSA has urged all vehicle owners and stakeholders to register through its official website before the May 20 deadline in order to participate in the online sessions.

Under the new system, motorists will be able to access, download, verify, and share their vehicle logbooks digitally through the eCitizen platform without visiting NTSA offices. The authority says the eLogbook will also be integrated into services such as vehicle ownership transfers, inspections, registration of new vehicles, and changes of vehicle details.

NTSA says the digital system is expected to reduce delays, improve transparency, enhance security, and minimise cases of forged or lost logbooks. The authority also believes the move will help eliminate middlemen and reduce corruption in vehicle registration processes.

The rollout represents one of the biggest digital changes in Kenya’s transport sector in recent years as the government continues pushing for paperless public services.
