SHOCK as EACC Arrests Three Nairobi Water Officials Over Fake Academic Certificates

Three officials from the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) have been arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over allegations of using fake academic certificates to secure jobs.

According to EACC, investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly forged Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificates and presented them as genuine documents issued by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) during their employment process.

The anti-graft agency stated that the fake documents were used to unlawfully obtain positions at Nairobi Water, allowing the suspects to earn salaries and benefits from public funds over the years.

The arrests are part of an ongoing crackdown by EACC targeting public officers accused of using forged academic papers to gain employment or promotions within government institutions. In recent months, several Nairobi Water employees and other public servants have faced similar charges linked to fake certificates.

EACC said the suspects will face charges including forgery, uttering false documents, and fraudulent acquisition of public property once investigations are complete.

The commission has repeatedly warned that public officers found using fake qualifications risk losing their jobs, prosecution, and recovery of salaries earned illegally through fraudulent employment.

The latest arrests have once again raised concerns over the widespread use of forged academic certificates in public institutions and the need for stricter verification of qualifications during recruitment.

Overall, the case highlights EACC’s intensified efforts to clean up public service and hold officials accountable for fraudulent employment practices.
