The Pentagon has identified Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, a 19-year-old U.S. Army soldier from Carrollton, Texas, as one of the service members killed during Iran's ballistic missile and drone attacks over the weekend.
According to U.S. officials, Gonzales was taking part in a mission supporting operations against the Islamic State (ISIS) when she lost her life while helping defend her position from incoming Iranian strikes.
Her death highlights the growing human toll of the escalating conflict in the Middle East, where tensions continue to rise.
Meanwhile, the U.S. military has carried out a ninth consecutive night of retaliatory strikes targeting Iranian positions as both countries remain locked in a widening confrontation, with the strategic Strait of Hormuz emerging as a major flashpoint in the conflict.
