According to reports circulating on social media, the teenager had allegedly been sent to a nearby shop by his mother when he encountered two women who were riding on a motorcycle. The women were reportedly heavily intoxicated when they allegedly snatched the boy's mobile phone.
The reports further claim that the boy ran after the women while crying for help in an attempt to recover his phone. However, instead of receiving assistance from members of the public, the situation allegedly took a tragic turn after the two women reportedly began shouting "thief," attracting the attention of people nearby.
A crowd is said to have descended on the teenager before giving him an opportunity to explain what had happened. According to the circulating claims, the boy was fatally attacked by the mob, with reports alleging that he was stoned to death before his body was set on fire. A video shared online has since sparked widespread outrage among Kenyans.
The heartbreaking incident has triggered emotional reactions across social media, with many Kenyans calling on authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that everyone responsible is held accountable.
Meanwhile, the area chief has reportedly sent his condolences to the boy's family and assured residents that the matter will be investigated.
