Mohamed Bzeek moved from Tripoli, Libya, to the United States in 1978 to pursue studies in electronic engineering. At the time, he was passionate about marathon running and never imagined that his life would one day be dedicated to caring for children who were nearing the end of their lives.

Everything changed after he met Dawn, a foster parent who had been caring for vulnerable children since the early 1980s. The two got married in 1989 and began opening their home to children with serious medical conditions.
