Kabogo Sends Strong Message to Voters Ahead of 2027: Choose Leaders Who Can Deliver

Information, Communications and The Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has urged Kenyans to stop making voting decisions based mainly on emotions and instead choose leaders based on their ability, experience and record.

Speaking during a television interview, Kabogo said voters often support politicians because of party loyalty, popularity or the excitement they create during rallies, only to regret their decisions after elections.

He challenged Kenyans to look beyond political parties and personalities when choosing candidates for public office.

According to Kabogo, voters should examine what a candidate has achieved, their leadership skills and whether they have the ability to improve the lives of ordinary citizens.

He also criticised the growing trend of electing politicians because they are entertaining at rallies. He argued that public offices, particularly Parliament, require serious leaders who can debate national issues and support laws that benefit the country.

Kabogo said Kenya cannot make meaningful progress if voters continue prioritising entertainment and political excitement over competence.

He urged Kenyans to take greater responsibility for their choices at the ballot and carefully consider the kind of leaders they want to represent them.

His remarks come as political activity increases ahead of the 2027 General Election, with politicians and parties already positioning themselves for the upcoming contest.

Kabogo's message puts the focus on voters, urging them to judge candidates by their ability to deliver rather than simply following party loyalty, popularity or political emotions.
