UDA Announces Major Changes as Party Prepares for 2027 Elections

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced plans to amend its party constitution as it begins preparations for the 2027 General Election.

The proposed changes were made public through a Gazette notice dated August 14, giving members and other Kenyans an opportunity to submit their views before the amendments are formally adopted.

The move comes at a politically significant time, with UDA working on its strategy for the next election and strengthening its structures across the country.

The proposed constitutional amendments are being undertaken under the Political Parties Act, which requires political parties to follow established internal procedures before changing their constitutions.

UDA must first involve the relevant party organs in considering and approving the proposed amendments before they can take effect.

The changes also come as UDA and ODM continue preparations for their political cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections. The two parties recently agreed to establish a joint team to work on a coalition manifesto.

At the same time, the ruling party is facing political movements involving several leaders, with some prominent politicians leaving UDA for other parties as the 2027 elections draw closer.

The constitutional changes are therefore expected to play an important role in shaping how UDA organises itself and prepares for the next electoral contest.

UDA's latest move signals that the party is already laying the groundwork for the 2027 political battle, even as alliances and political loyalties continue to shift across the country.
