Political analyst Herman Manyora has claimed that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna could defeat Siaya Governor James Orengo even in Orengo’s home county if the two politicians faced each other on the Linda Mwananchi presidential ticket.
Speaking during his podcast on Monday, September 14, 2026, Manyora said Sifuna had gained significant popularity, particularly among young Kenyans.
The analyst argued that Sifuna had managed to attract the attention of many voters and was becoming an increasingly influential figure within Linda Mwananchi.
Manyora went further to predict that Sifuna would defeat Orengo in Siaya if both were to appear on the ballot in a presidential contest.
His comments come as the two leaders remain linked to competing ambitions within Linda Mwananchi ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Orengo recently declared his interest in running for President on the Linda Mwananchi ticket, creating a new challenge for a movement whose leaders have largely rallied around Sifuna.
Several leaders within the movement have publicly backed Sifuna, while Orengo has maintained that political competition should be allowed before the movement settles on a single candidate.
Orengo has also said he is willing to engage Sifuna in discussions to find a way forward and eventually produce one presidential candidate capable of challenging President William Ruto.
The debate has placed Linda Mwananchi under growing pressure to establish how it will select its presidential candidate.
Sifuna has continued to build his profile through political rallies and grassroots mobilisation, while Orengo brings decades of political experience and a strong base in Siaya.
Manyora’s prediction adds another layer to the emerging contest, particularly because Siaya has traditionally been an important political base for Orengo.
However, his assessment remains a political opinion and does not represent the outcome of an actual election or confirmed voter survey.
