Kenya Airways has waived rebooking charges for passengers whose flights were disrupted by the recent aviation workers’ strike.
The national carrier said affected passengers can change their travel dates without paying change or no-show penalties as the airline works to clear a backlog of delayed and cancelled flights.
The aviation workers’ strike began on Sunday, August 30, causing major disruptions at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and other airports across the country.
The industrial action was called off on Tuesday after the Kenya Aviation Workers Union reached an agreement with the government, allowing workers to resume normal duties.
Kenya Airways said its teams had immediately started working to restore normal flight schedules and clear the backlog created during the strike.
Passengers have been warned to expect some delays as the airline works to return to normal operations, with full scheduled services expected to resume by Wednesday, September 2.
Affected travellers can reschedule their flights at no additional rebooking cost. However, passengers who change their destination may still be required to pay any applicable fare difference.
Kenya Airways has also waived refund penalties for affected passengers. Travellers with wholly unused tickets can request a full refund, while those who have partially used their tickets can seek a refund for the unused portion.
The airline said rebooking and refund requests must be made by September 20, 2026.
Passengers have been advised to check their flight status before travelling to the airport and keep their contact details updated through the airline’s booking system.
Kenya Airways said affected customers would receive updates through SMS, WhatsApp and email as the airline continues restoring its operations.
The measures are expected to provide relief to thousands of travellers whose plans were disrupted by the two-day aviation strike.
