Kileleshwa ward MCA Robert Alai has questioned social media claims that former President Uhuru Kenyatta intervened in the case of two Kenyan activists recently arrested in Uganda.

His comments came after President Yoweri Museveni revealed that Ugandan security forces had detained the duo.

Museveni said the Kenyans were “working with Kyagulanyi’s group and are experts in riots,” linking the arrests to intelligence operations against groups associated with opposition leader Bobi Wine (Robert Kyagulanyi).

The statement clarified the circumstances surrounding the activists’ detention, which had sparked speculation in regional media.

Alai, writing on X, dismissed suggestions that Uhuru facilitated the activists’ release.

He contrasted the claims with what he described as Uhuru’s inaction on issues such as harassment of Kenyan fishermen at Migingo Island during his tenure.

“Until President Ruto called President Museveni, social media narratives credited Uhuru,” Alai said.

The MCA highlighted President William Ruto’s efforts to safeguard Kenyan interests in the Lake Victoria region, including deploying a battalion of the Kenya Navy.
