Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has expressed his condolences to the Odinga family following the death of Beryl Achieng Odinga, a daughter of the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.

His reaction adds to a growing wave of sympathy directed at the family, which is navigating yet another major loss only weeks after the burial of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The announcement of Beryl’s death was made by Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga, who confirmed that the family had suffered a sudden bereavement.

In her communication, Ruth outlined Beryl’s place within the Odinga lineage, noting that she was a sister to Senator Oburu Oginga, the late Raila Odinga, and Akinyi Wenwa.

She further stated that the family was taking comfort in their faith as they processed the loss.

Alai, reacting to the news on social media, offered brief condolences while recognising the weight of the family’s latest bereavement. “Pole sana to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga family for the loss of Beryl Odinga,” he wrote.

He added a prayerful message saying, “May Mama Beryl rest in peace," a remark widely shared by his followers.

Beryl is survived by her children Ami Auma, Chizi, and Taurai. Her death marks another moment of mourning for one of Kenya’s most prominent political families, whose influence stretches from the independence era to modern party politics.

The Odingas have been central in shaping debates around governance, electoral reforms, and opposition movements, particularly through ODM, a party long associated with Nyanza’s political identity.

The ripple effect of the loss has been felt across the region, where the Odinga family remains closely linked to grassroots and national politics.

Leaders from various sectors have continued sending messages of support, underscoring the family’s longstanding public profile.

Ruth Odinga indicated that burial arrangements would be communicated once internal consultations are completed. T
