A dramatic police raid in Molo, Nakuru County, has exposed an elaborate cyber fraud network operating from a rented house in the Tayari area.

Eight suspects were arrested while two others escaped after officers stormed the premises following intelligence reports of suspicious online activity.

Inside the house, police say they found hundreds of SIM cards, dozens of mobile phones, and several national identification cards believed to have been used in digital scams.

Motor vehicle parts were also seized during the operation.

The Thursday morning raid was part of a wider crackdown on online fraudsters targeting unsuspecting Kenyans.

Detectives believe the syndicate had been using the SIM cards and IDs to register fake mobile money accounts and defraud victims across the country.

Confirming the arrests, the National Police Service said all the seized exhibits had been secured for forensic examination.

“We have intensified our efforts to dismantle technology-driven crime networks and ensure those involved face justice,” the NPS stated.

The two suspects who escaped are being tracked as investigations continue. Police hinted that more arrests could follow once digital evidence is analyzed.

Authorities have urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and report any suspicious cyber-related activities to nearby police stations, warning that fraudsters are increasingly shifting operations online.
