Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has accused fellow Kiambu lawmakers of attempting to influence voters with cash while obstructing development projects in her constituency.

The claims were made in a statement shared on her official Facebook page.

Wamuchomba alleges that funds for key initiatives, including Ruiru Dam 2, Technical Training Institutes (TTI), and local markets, were diverted or stalled.

She also cited unfinished roads and her exclusion from parliamentary house committees as tactics aimed at weakening her political standing.

The MP claims that seven Kiambu legislators held early morning meetings, offering KSh 2,000 to voters in weekly sessions at Riagithu Coffee Factory and Marige College Hall.

According to Wamuchomba, local chiefs and village elders were mobilized to assist in these efforts, with cash reportedly carried in sacks.

She further accused clergy members of spreading false allegations against her and noted a local slogan, “Ndithikagwo na Muguongo,” implying attempts to remove resources before harming a target.

Wamuchomba stressed that residents have “made up their mind,” rejecting bribery, intimidation, and political interference.

The MP also highlighted past incidents where political pressure affected constituents, including demolitions, business disruptions, dismissals from strategic positions, and land disputes.

Despite these challenges, she says her “one term” agenda remains supported by the community.
