Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, met with Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni on Thursday evening at State Lodge Mayuge.

The discussions centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing the East African Community’s (EAC) agenda of political unity, economic growth, and regional security.

Mudavadi’s office issued a statement highlighting Kenya’s commitment to fostering regional integration through coordinated political, economic, and social initiatives.

The statement noted that the talks reflected ongoing collaboration between President William Ruto and President Museveni to enhance practical benefits for citizens on both sides of the border.

Beyond EAC objectives, the leaders examined other bilateral matters crucial to Kenya-Uganda relations.

The discussions reportedly covered strategies to expand trade, infrastructure development, and cross-border coordination on security and governance issues.

Kenya and Uganda share a longstanding partnership shaped by trade links, shared borders, and mutual participation in regional organizations.

High-level engagements such as Mudavadi’s visit are seen as mechanisms to consolidate trust, streamline cooperative projects, and maintain political alignment within the EAC framework.

The visit also underscores Kenya’s active diplomacy in the region, particularly as East African nations seek to address challenges such as customs barriers, security coordination, and regional development planning.

Mudavadi reaffirmed that the partnership between Ruto and Museveni would continue to focus on initiatives that directly improve the welfare of citizens.

“President Ruto and President Museveni are committed to maintaining strong, practical ties that benefit both nations,” the statement said.

This meeting adds to a series of bilateral interactions aimed at deepening Kenya-Uganda relations.
