Oketch Salah has issued a deeply personal message mourning the death of Madam Beryl Achieng’ Odinga, extending his sincere condolences to the Odinga family in a statement on X.
In his message, Salah described himself as having been “embraced like a son” within the Odinga home, saying her passing “feels deeply personal.”
He noted that her death — coming soon after that of Raila Odinga — has created a “silence that words can hardly fill.”
He addressed several prominent Odinga family members, including Dr. Oburu Odinga, Canon Dr. Ida Odinga, Hon. Ruth Odinga, and Dr. Wenwa Akinyi, praying for strength, comfort, and peace in their grief. He concluded: “May Beryl’s soul rest in perfect peace.”
Beryl Achieng’ Odinga died on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Nairobi West Hospital, where she had been under treatment.
Her death comes just over a month after the passing of her brother, Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, who died on October 15, 2025.
She was the youngest child of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Mama Mary Ajuma Oginga, and leaves behind her three children: Ami Auma, Chizi, and Taurai.
Professionally, Beryl had a distinguished career.
She once served as the first Black Town Clerk of Mutare, Zimbabwe, and was later appointed Chairperson of the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company (NWSC).
