Siaya Governor James Orengo has showered praise on Wiper Party boss Kalonzo Musyoka after he led a team of Ukambani leaders to visit the family of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Siaya.

The visit was part of ongoing tributes to the ODM leader, whose death in India on October 15 shocked the nation.

Kalonzo, accompanied by senior Wiper officials and regional leaders, joined the Odinga family and allies to honour Raila’s memory and legacy.

Taking to X after the visit, Governor Orengo described Kalonzo as a “true brother” and an unwavering ally who walked alongside Raila in Kenya’s long fight for democracy.

“We were honoured to host H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka, who joined us in remembering his brother and comrade, Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga. Though Baba rests, his spirit still lives among us. The fire of democracy, justice, and unity he lit continues to burn in the hearts of Kenyans," Orengo wrote on X.

Orengo said the bond between Raila and Kalonzo went beyond politics, describing their friendship as one built on shared sacrifice and belief in a fairer Kenya.

“Together, they walked a long road shaping our nation’s democratic journey, and that legacy will forever endure,” he added.

The visit by Kalonzo and his team comes as political leaders from across the country continue to honour Raila’s contribution to Kenya’s multi-party democracy and national unity.

Raila, known for his resilience and leadership in the struggle for reform, served as Prime Minister from 2008 to 2013 and remained a central figure in the country’s opposition politics until his death.
