A disturbing incident in Staten Island, New York, has left residents alarmed after a woman allegedly stabbed her mother in the neck before fleeing the home with the family dog, police said.
According to authorities, the suspect, identified as Bryanna Smith, attacked her mother on the evening of November 15, 2024. Police reports indicate that a confrontation broke out inside their shared apartment, and the dispute escalated quickly.
Smith is accused of using a sharp object to stab her mother in the neck, leaving her bleeding and unable to move.
Neighbors called 911 after hearing screams coming from the apartment. Responding officers found the victim lying helplessly on the floor. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is receiving treatment and is expected to recover.
Investigators say Smith grabbed the family dog and fled immediately after the attack. Detectives believe she may still be in the Staten Island area, and a manhunt is currently underway.
