Kenya has lost former Lugari Constituency MP Cyrus Jirongo, a figure known for his political engagement and business ventures.
Deputy Chief of Staff Eliud Owalo expressed his condolences, describing Jirongo as a resilient entrepreneur whose career combined public service with enterprise.
In a statement on X, Owalo noted that Jirongo’s life “was marked by enterprise, generosity, and public service.”
He further acknowledged the late politician’s role in shaping Kenya’s political and economic landscape, saying, “Hon. Jirongo will be remembered for his bold entrepreneurial spirit, and his contribution to Kenya’s political and economic life.”
Jirongo served as the MP for Lugari Constituency and emerged as a prominent political figure in western Kenya, where he was active in legislative matters and community initiatives.
Beyond politics, he built a reputation as a go-getter businessman, supporting local economic activities and mentoring young entrepreneurs in the region.
Owalo extended his sympathy to Jirongo’s family, friends, and the broader community, adding, “My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time. May God grant the family strength and comfort, and may the soul of Hon. Cyrus Jirongo rest in eternal peace.”
Jirongo’s passing comes at a time when Kenya reflects on the contributions of former legislators who have played dual roles in governance and commerce.
His tenure in parliament and engagement in business exemplify a blend of leadership and enterprise that has influenced both policy and local development.
