Kenya and India have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in information and communication technology, with a focus on emerging technologies, cybersecurity, and digital skills development. The discussions were held on Monday morning at the Ministry of ICT headquarters in Nairobi.
ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo received the High Commissioner of India to Kenya, Dr. Adarsh Swaika, in a courtesy visit that highlighted the longstanding collaboration between the two nations.
According to Kabogo, the meeting provided an opportunity to identify avenues for leveraging technology to enhance public services and socio-economic growth.
The session also emphasized the need to modernize key national infrastructure, including a revamp of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
“We are keen to deepen strategic partnerships that advance our digital transformation agenda and strengthen our position as a regional technology leader,” Kabogo said during the engagement.
Both officials explored initiatives aimed at strengthening Kenya’s capacity in emerging digital technologies and cybersecurity.
They discussed ways to expand digital skills among the workforce to support the country’s innovation agenda, reflecting the government’s priority to integrate technology in service delivery.
India’s High Commissioner Dr. Swaika underscored the value of collaborative efforts, noting that shared expertise could accelerate the implementation of digital projects across Kenya.
The meeting also reviewed potential investments and partnerships to enhance ICT infrastructure and support the growth of technology-driven industries.
The Kenya-India partnership in the digital sector builds on a history of bilateral cooperation, including technology transfer, skill development programs, and infrastructure support.
This engagement aligns with Kenya’s Vision 2030 blueprint, which emphasizes innovation and ICT as critical drivers of economic development.
Both sides committed to ongoing dialogue and collaboration, with a focus on practical projects that can deliver tangible benefits to Kenyan citizens and strengthen the country’s role as a regional technology hub.
