A new survey by Mizani Africa shows the Democratic Congress Party (DCP) holding a clear lead in Nyeri County’s latest political party preference rankings.
The poll, released on Monday through the organisation’s X platform, places DCP at 50.6 percent, indicating strong grassroots support across the county.
According to the data, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) follows at 19.5 percent. Though maintaining a notable presence, the party trails DCP by a wide margin, reflecting shifting political alignments and changing voter sentiment in the region.
Mizani Africa noted that the gap underscores evolving dynamics as residents reassess their political loyalty ahead of future electoral cycles.
The survey also highlights a significant portion of undecided or non-aligned voters. About 18.3 percent of respondents stated that they do not currently identify with any political party.
This bloc represents a crucial segment that could influence the county’s political direction, depending on how parties engage them in the coming months.
Mizani Africa described DCP’s performance as evidence of “deep grassroots penetration and growing acceptance,” suggesting that recent mobilisation efforts may be resonating with residents.
The organisation did not provide further demographic breakdowns or constituency-level analysis but indicated that additional reports would follow.
Political analysts say Nyeri’s shifting preferences may be linked to ongoing national debates, local leadership performance, and emerging realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election.
However, they caution that party popularity can change as campaigns intensify and candidates begin outlining concrete agendas.
The presence of a large undecided group is expected to draw increased attention from major parties.
Mobilisation strategies, public engagements, and policy-based messaging are likely to shape how this category eventually aligns.
Mizani Africa stated that the poll was conducted through countywide sampling, but full methodological details—including sample size and survey dates—were yet to be published at the time of release.
The organisation said it would provide additional data to enhance transparency and allow deeper interpretation of the findings.
The latest results add to ongoing national discussions about changing political loyalties, with Nyeri County emerging as an area to watch as parties strengthen their early campaign structures.
