President William Ruto has expressed Kenya’s appreciation for the United States’ “generous hospitality” during his recent official visit to Washington, D.C., highlighting new agreements in health, trade, and regional security.

The Kenyan leader described the discussions as a milestone in the long-standing bilateral relationship between the two nations.

According to President Ruto, the talks underscored mutual commitments to expand disease surveillance, enhance primary healthcare services, and accelerate access to modern medical technologies.

“These initiatives will save lives, support communities, and advance Kenya’s goal of universal health coverage,” he stated on X.

On trade and investment, Ruto noted that the meetings focused on unlocking new value chains, supporting African manufacturing, and boosting youth employment.

The US has also signaled interest in investing in Kenya’s digital economy, infrastructure projects, and green energy transition, marking a potential shift toward deeper economic cooperation.

The President further highlighted the partnership’s security dimension, praising Washington’s ongoing support for stability across the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes region.

Discussions included counter-terrorism efforts, maritime security, and conflict resolution, with Ruto emphasizing that joint action can strengthen regional stability.

This visit follows decades of Kenya-US collaboration, particularly in development, security, and trade.

President Ruto also acknowledged former US President Donald Trump’s personal leadership, describing it as a catalyst for renewed momentum in bilateral relations.

He emphasized that Kenya intends to translate the agreements reached in Washington into tangible outcomes for citizens.

The visit and subsequent statements signal a continuation of Kenya’s diplomatic efforts to leverage international partnerships for economic development, healthcare improvements, and enhanced regional security, reinforcing the country’s position as a strategic partner in East Africa.
